Bitter Sweet Good-Bye

Well, yesterday was the last painting class at the Milos Milidrag Art Studio for at least 3 months….maybe more.  My painting mentor, Professor Milos Milidrag, is off to Sarajevo to instruct painting at the Acadamy of Fine Art.  We will miss him very much, but I do believe his Canadian students will in fact  benefit from his adventure in the long term.  I’m sure he will have many renewed ideas, methods and direction for us upon his return.

Here are a few photos I snapped at the Friday afternoon class….which isn’t my usual painting time (I’m usually in the Wednesday evening class) but I thought I’d try and squeeze in as many sessions as I could prior to his departure.  Painting was a bit of a challenge today, as this was the hottest the studio has ever been!  It must have been over 100 degrees!  It’s on the 6th floor of a 100+ year old building and the old boilers were working over time.  Our paint was practically dry as soon as it hit the palette.  But, I’m still glad I made it for the last class….fun group of artists, food & wine.

We wish him safe travel and a productive enjoyable session with his new students!  Hurry back home (to Canada) Milos!

Oh, yes…no worries. He’ll be back in May, we just may have to wait until next September before he begins instructing here again. However, we will still be having a show in June with all his students. More details to follow on the show, but his directions upon leaving were we all had to do a self portrait! EEK!!!
